Art: The U Line: Duke Riley

I just passed an intricate, panoramic puzzle in the store, one that made my head turn. No; not the airbrushed looking, ocean scene one.  There are mermaids and an octopus, though. The image is taken from Duke Riley’s ‘The U Line,’ created for display in New York’s subways.  His style is interesting; a sort of Colonial American Revival in black line intricacies. Looking through his artist statement and other projects, though, he stands out as a unique contemporary artist as well.
